The interdisciplinary approach of behavioural medicine - that means the integration of sociocultural, psychosocial, behavioural and biomedical knowledge relevant to health and illness – is fundamental in understanding the determinants of the morbidity and mortality crisis in our region and more importantly to implement community based behavioural medicine health promotion methods.

On the Budapest Satellite meeting of the 8th ICBM - August 29-31, 2004, Budapest, Hungary - we concluded that there is a need to strengthen teaching, research and system engagement in behavioural medicine in the countries of the region. Therefore participants of the satellite symposium decided to form the Central Eastern European Behavioural Medicine Network (CEEBM-NET). Learn more about CEEBM-NET:

The 1st CEEBM-NET Symposium was held in Targu-Mures, Romania, October 14-16, 2005, where we agreed to transit our network into a Regional - Central and Eastern European Society of Behavioural Medicine (CEESBM). In Warsaw, Poland, 28 August, 2006 we had the Statutory Meeting of the CEESBM.

The Central and Eastern European Society of Behavioural Medicine has been officially registered at Metropolitan Court of Budapest, Hungary, March 6, 2007.
