With the policy support of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, a national program series on Territorial Innovation Platforms (TIPs) has been launched, organized by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office. Local universities in Budapest and five rural locations will join the program by signing a cooperation statement.
On 22 November, the TIP was established at the University of Pécs as well. The aim of the event is to establish regional organizations across the country building on university knowledge bases, providing an opportunity for a direct insight into innovation policies, developing, strengthening the cooperation between participants of the local innovation ecosystem, and creating new professional foundations.
It is crucial for the future performance and competitiveness of the renewable Hungarian innovation ecosystem that the participants’ - policy makers, higher education and research institutions, businesses and professional organizations - connections are strengthened locally, enhancing the innovation capacity of each region along the smart specialization strategy. Building on university centres and focusing on the main strengths of the key participants in the regional innovation environment, the National Research, Development and Innovation Office will therefore seek to create new meeting points within the Territorial Innovation Platforms program series that will facilitate new approaches to the flow of information, knowledge transfer, and cooperation and professional networking.
In recent years, the University of Pécs has taken several steps to encourage innovation participants in the region to cooperate. This already has tangible results. The UP and Philips are working together on a joint development that can significantly help Hungarian health care; it was presented at a roundtable discussion. It has been said that the administrative burden is constantly increasing in the field of health care, which complicates the work of both doctors and professional staff. Digitization and automation solutions for data recording are of great help. Digitizing data recordings not only reduces the load on patient care staff, but also provides greater health and legal security for patients and care staff. With the further development of the PHILIPS ICCA (IntelliSpace Critical Care and Anesthesia) program, which is only partially suitable for national use, the colleagues of the UP have developed a new system that is fully aligned with the practice and logical processes of the Hungarian intensive patient care. The development provides a configuration package that enables the original program to be immediately put into service in any intensive care unit in Hungary. The UP and Philips have a common intention to develop digital patient data recording systems in health care facilities within the UP Clinical Center as soon as possible in the framework of the cooperation.
In fact, the system could later be expanded nationwide, making the administration of all national health care institutions easier and faster.
