At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Róbert Gábriel, Vice-Rector of the university said that the Moroccan Honorary Consulate has chosen the University of Pécs as the location of its office, one of the reasons being the successful internationalization program of the university, due to which 25 Moroccan students are studying at several faculties of the UP this year and that number will increase in the future. He added that thanks to the work done at the university’s Africa Research Centre, the two countries' universities have developed a good relationship in recent years. He emphasized that the goal in the future is to participate in scientific projects and joint research.

Moroccan Ambassador Karima Kabbaj said at the inauguration ceremony that she was delighted that the internationally recognized University of Pécs is receiving more and more Moroccan students. She added that she trusts the university's high-quality education since it plays an extremely important role in strengthening the relations between the two countries and the better understanding between Hungarians and Moroccans in the future.

Honorary Consul Viktor Dombi emphasized that the relationship between Morocco and Hungary in the economic, sports, scientific and tourism fields has become closer and more fruitful in recent years and that both countries are profiting from this. The work at the consulate in Pécs will contribute to this, and the office will also assist Moroccan students and Moroccan citizens visiting Pécs.
