Researchers of Pécs and Debrecen against inflammatory diseases

20 December 2019

The Strategic Workshop, set up by the working groups of the University of Pécs and the University of Debrecen, aims to explore how certain proteins participate in regulating and maintaining the healthy functioning of the body and their role in the development of certain diseases (e.g. polyarthritis, psoriasis, immunological diseases, cancerous lesions, inflammatory diseases).

In order to achieve this goal, the Workshop intends to adopt a completely original, new approach that examines systemically the role of proteins in the pathology, diagnosis, and prevention of diseases and in personalized therapy along the system-biological complexities of the processes that determine physiological and pathophysiological functions (information exchange, protection, nutrition, renewal).

Several institutes and research groups of the university participate in the research: MTA-PTE Momentum PACAP Working Group at the Institute of Anatomy, the Neuro-Immunopharmacology Research Group of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, the Department of Immunology and Biotechnology, the Research Group of the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, the Research Group of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Oncodermatology, the Molecular Pharmacology Research Group, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, and the Sensory Neuron Pharmacology Research Group.

In their research, the working groups use modern biomedical, drug development and health industry technology, and world-class equipment, by which their work contributes significantly to strengthening the R&D capacity of national knowledge bases and to the production of internationally high-quality research results.
