New Year’s Toast 2020

On 6 January, the leaders of the University, our School, the Clinical Centre, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Health Sciences gathered for a new year's toast and celebrated with the professors and associate professors of the School. Dr. Attila Miseta, rector of the University of Pécs and Zoltán Jenei, chancellor of the University of Pécs greeted the participants and then the dean of our School, dr. Miklós Nyitrai gave a presentation on the development of the campus, and dr. Andor Sebestyén, president of the Clinical Centre, summarized the results of last year, highlighting the tasks of the future.

Awards were also handed over at the festive meeting. Three theoretical institutes and three clinics were awarded the title "Outstanding Institute / Clinic of the Year": the Department of Primary Health Care, the MediSkillsLab – Medical Simulation Education Centre, the Department of Public Health Medicine, and the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy, the Department of Emergency Medicine, and the Department of Urology.

Colleagues who have been appointed as professors and associate professors received a watch with the School’s coat of arms on it. On the back of the watch the caption says "full professor" for professors and "associate professor" for associate professors and there is also the signature of the teacher receiving the watch, and the serial number of the watches issued at the School.

Dr. Iván Gábor Horváth from the Heart Insitute and dr. Diána Mühl from the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy received watches, who were appointed by the President of the Republic on 1 September 2019, and also those appointed to the position of associate professor: dr. Béla Birkás (Department of Behavioural Sciences), dr. Zita Bognár (Department of Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry), dr. Éva Mikó (Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology), dr. Gábor Pozsgai (Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy), dr. Zoltán Sándor (Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy) and dr. Éva Szőke (Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy).

In addition to the teaching colleagues, the dean gave Professor Zsuzsanna Helyes a watch too because she was chosen as a correspondent member of the V. Medical Sciences Section at the  closed session of the General Assembly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on 7 May 2019.

The School’s 2020 white and red wine were also introduced at the New Year’s toast. The winners are the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc white wine of the Belward Winery and the 2015 Cabernet Franc red wine of the Ebner Winery.
