Mechanisms of individual differences in stress vulnerability vs. resilience suggests that there are brain structure and function specific effects of stress responsivity, which are influenced by the individual's prior experience shaping molecular, cellular and ultimately behavioral responses to stressful challenges.

The purpose of the symposium is to highlight current hot topics in retinal research. Presenters of this symposium will cover recent advances of modern retinal research. Both basic science aspects and implication for disease states will be incorporated. They will examine the function of both chemical and electrical synapses in retinal signaling including the presynaptic molecular machinery of the very first synapse between photoreceptors and bipolar cells, the long debated mechanism underlying the generation of bipolar cell surround responses by the outer retinal inhibitory horizontal cells and also the generation of the spike code of the retinal output ganglion cells. These issues will be presented based on experiments carried out in both wild type and transgenic animal models as well as in postmortem human retinal samples. In addition, the scotopic signaling in the human retina will be described and compared to those of previously in animal models. Finally, besides signaling in the healthy retina, retinal pathology related to mechanosensation in the glaucomatous eye and the malfunction of the neurovascular unit will be discussed as well.

A new optional course was introduced in the medical curriculum on the diverse aspects of anatomy. The topics include interesting anatomy-related topics with many different fields of anatomy/neuroanatomy. Although this knowledge is not necessarily required for the medical curriculum, it might help the student to learn anatomy with more interest and enthusiasm. The course also gives an insight into different kinds of Anatomy curriculum, like what kind of Anatomy a massage therapist or a veterinary needs in comparison to medical students and also shows some other Anatomy teaching systems from different universities worldwide. We have made an exhibition of the works students sent, further popularizing the subject of anatomy.
