KVS delegation with alumni members visited the Medical School in Pécs

25 September 2026

The representatives of the Saxon Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Sachsen – KVS) visited the Medical School in Pécs between 16 and 18 September, accompanied by German alumni who graduated in 2022. During their three-day visit, the delegation took part in an institutional visit, a class reunion, and the White Coat Ceremony.

The University of Pécs Medical School and the Saxon Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Sachsen – KVS) have been successfully collaborating for twelve years, since 2013. As part of the programme, initially 20 students per year and, since 2020, 40 students per year have received KVS scholarships (covering their full tuition fees) to study at the Medical School in Pécs. After graduating, they return to Saxony to work as general practitioners, contributing to the preservation of primary healthcare in rural areas.

247 students have begun their studies at our School since the launch of the programme, with the first 11 graduating in 2019. A total of 95 students have obtained their degrees through the programme, while 174 are currently enrolled.

The KVS delegation has visited the Medical School in Pécs several times in the past, but this year was the first time they were accompanied by alumni of the Medical School. In addition to members of the association, seven former students who graduated from the German-language programme at the UPMS in 2022 also joined the delegation.

During this year’s visit, the delegation of the Saxon Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians met the Medical School’s new leadership, while also introducing one of their own new leaders, Dr. Manuela Sipli.

Dr. Maximilian Braun, one of the graduates of the class that began its studies in 2013, also joined the delegation. He began practising medicine in the summer of 2025. His visit made a strong impression on the students participating in the scholarship programme, as they had the opportunity to speak with a physician who had already completed the same journey they are now undertaking at the Medical School in Pécs.

During their three-day visit, the delegation took a campus tour of the Medical School, visited the Department of Anatomy and the Medical Skills Education and Innovation Centre (OKIK), and also took part in a KVS class reunion. They also attended the White Coat Ceremony on 17 September, where alumni accompanying the delegation helped present the white coats.
