Numbers on a scale are often used as a measure of health, but they rarely tell the full story. Beyond the Scale: Body Image & Body Composition is an interactive workshop designed to help students better understand the relationship between body weight, body composition, and overall health.

Date & Time: April 28, from 16:00 to 17:15.
Location: University of Pécs Medical School, Room SIOT 1018

The workshop will be led by Laura Németh, dietitian and food scientist, who specializes in practical, evidence-based nutrition strategies for everyday life.

During the session, participants will explore how media, social comparison, and common misconceptions influence the way we perceive our bodies. The workshop will clarify key concepts such as body image, body weight, and body composition, and explain why weight alone is a limited indicator of health. Through discussions and practical exercises, students will also learn healthier ways to evaluate well-being—focusing on factors such as energy levels, strength, habits, and overall quality of life.

The goal of the workshop is to encourage a more balanced and compassionate perspective toward the body, helping students shift the focus from appearance to health and function.

Participation is free of charge for students of the UP Medical School, but registration is required.

Maximum number of participants is 15.*

Registration

*Unfortunately, it often happens that registered participants do not show up at the workshops. This is inconvenient because in this way we cannot offer the vacated space to those for whom it would be important to attend. Therefore, please note that if you do not notify us that you are unable to attend - at least 24 hours before the workshop date -, you will not be able to use the services of YourLife @ ÁOK this semester. Thank you for your understanding.
