Topic

The aim of the course is to enable students to obtain information about the SARS-COV-2 virus and the COVID-19 pandemic from an authentic source, thus increasing the chances of smooth preparation for possible further pandemic waves. We tried to compile the topic in such a way that we could provide a complete picture from infection prevention through virological basics to rescue and transport management of the infected person, and in the in-hospital phase, from emergency patient care to infectological and intensive therapeutic aspects. We would like to highlight the presentation of the work in the COVID center (personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, mechanical ventilation and other invasive interventions). During the course there will be seminar-type presentations from the physiological basics of respiration to the discussion of specific aspects of intensive care for a patient with ARDS. The students will be given the opportunity to ask questions in the second half of the 90-minute seminar. With the interactive nature of the course, we want to ensure that both the speakers and the audience stay “up-to-date” on the topic. At the MediSklillsLab we want to provide an opportunity to put theoretical knowledge into practice. We feel that by launching the elective course the PTE Clinical Center will be able to respond quickly to the pandemic challenges and this will clearly further improve the standards of care in our area.
