The alumni weekend was organised for the fourth time between September 20 and 22 at the Pécs Medical School, where international graduates gather to meet current students and participate in events. The occasion for the event was the 40th anniversary of the English and 20th of the German general medicine course, the 15th anniversary of the English pharmacy and biotechnology master’s courses.
Since its establishment in 1984, the alumni meeting has been organised for the fourth time – this year, 71 people attended. As a novelty, the event was started off with a picnic in the park behind the new theoretical block of the Medical School, followed by a visit to Széchenyi square where the Pécs Days events were in full swing.
The second day of the event included a scientific morning held by graduates. They talked about their careers and what the Pécs Medical school has given them and why becoming an alumni-member is worth it. They could take a look at the “Versatility of the Human Beauty” photo exhibition of Lajos Kalmár photographer and attend a gala evening where speeches were delivered by dr. Attila Miseta, rector of the university, dr. Miklós Nyitrai, dean of the Medical School, dr. András Fittler, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, dr. Péter Than, head of the German Program Committee at the Medical School, and dr. Reza Hemmati, director of the International Studies Center. The choir of the Medical School, VoicePOTEntial and Golestan orchestra performed at the event. An interesting fact about the latter is that the founder graduated from the English program in 1995. Within the scope of Pécs Music Society, current and former students played together, strengthening the initiative of the UP MS Junior Alumni Program.
“Based on their feedback, the graduates had a great time, and are open to attend similar events in the future. They also offered their support in creating a shared alumni-system”
