Pharmacotherapy Unit

Introduction

The Pharmacotherapy Unit was founded in 2011 within the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy. The mission is to provide integrative knowledge for the students, which is essential in the education of the experts dealing with up-to-date pharmacotherapy.

Subjects lectured by the department are clinical studies, clinical pharmacology and problem solving pharmacy. The subject of clinical studies is undertaken by acknowledged clinicians, the lectures are coordinated by the staff of the department. Students will be introduced to theoretical foundation of clinical pharmacology by lectures. Problem-solving pharmacy is a new topic in the pharmacy curriculum in Hungarian and English. We would like to transform the pharmacological knowledge into knowledge that can be used in everyday pharmacy practice through discussion of case studies. The aim of the subject is to give a problem-solving attitude to the students.

Beside the educational tasks, the founder lecturers are active members in several inland and international research projects. Their main domain of research is to clarifying the pathomechanism of inflammation and discovering new therapeutic targets for drug development.
