In our ongoing study we aim to determine the hemorheological changes induced by physical training in cardiac patients participating in ambulatory rehabilitation program. Blood is drawn from patients suffering from ischemic heart disease to measure hematocrit (Hct), plasma and whole blood viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation and deformability. Native and adjusted blood (Hct: 40%) samples are measured as well. At the onset of the training patients are tested on treadmill using Bruce protocol. Patients join the cardiological rehabilitation program training for 1 hour 3 times a week. Treadmill test, hemorheological and laboratory measurements completed with a psychological test are repeated 24 weeks later.
