Denis VIVIEN is a professor of cell biology at the Caen Normandy University and Hospital practitioner in Cell Biology at the Caen Normandie Hospital. After a training in molecular biology, with a special interest for the TGF-beta signaling (University Orsay Paris XI and Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York (Joan massage’s lab), he moved to neurosciences, with the discovery 1/ that TGF-beta was capable to protect neurons by promoting the astrocytic expression of ther Type 1 Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor (PAI-1) and 2/ that tPA (tissue plasminogen activator) was capable to influence NMDA receptor signaling. He is now director of an INSERM group (114 people) working on the influence of tPA on neurovascular and neurological disorders. He is also director of the Blood and Brain @ Caen Normandy Institute (BB@C), focused on translational research on the blood and brain interactions. GIP Cyceron, Caen, France.

New lecture series with Erasmus partner universities on Translational Neuroscience and Global Health will be offered in the spring semester of the academic year 2020/2021 between March and May 2021, again with the participation of UP MS.
