The University of Pécs Medical School admission website has undergone a grand redesign, combining elegant but trendy design with 21st century needs and user-friendly solutions. After lengthy preparation and analysis, the new website started welcoming future Pécs medical students on February 8; it is also acting as the overture of a larger project – the coming new faculty website.
“The admission websites of the faculty started in 2013, in three languages (Hungarian, English, and German). However, the content consumption habits of the target audience has changed a lot in the past decade, making the renewal of the websites necessary. This was a grandiose task resulting in the new admission websites that not only got a structural and content update, but also a new, modern design that shows both proud tradition and futuristic views,” said dr. Zsófia Duga, head of the Strategic Marketing and Recruitment Office.
The new admission website is optimised for current smart devices for the Hungarian, English and German courses. It is a responsive, vertically divided communication interface where video and image content has an important focus next to the written content.
Aside from highlighted news and admission information, the sites also host information about our courses, student services and the introduction of student life. The social media platforms of the faculty are just one click away: Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and TikTok accounts are all linked, and we also invite our visitors for a VR-gallery tour.
“The admission website is one of the most important first impression point online, since prospective Hungarian and international students usually encounter us here for the first time. Therefore it is important that we are able to show visitors that they are looking at a dynamic, accepting and exciting, high prestige medical school that is about to undergo a big renewal,” explained László Fekete, head of the Digital and Marketing Office, responsible for providing the IT and coding background for the new website.
He added, that the structure of the website was designed in collaboration with the English and Hungarian Admission and Student Service Offices; they were aiming to reduce the clutter on the main page, resulting in a more easy to absorb, user-friendly website.
The design and optimisation of the user experience are the work of internationally acclaimed Pécs designer Zoltán Egri, who is currently working at the redesign of the entire medical school brand. The soon to be started new faculty website will also be his work, of which the new admission website will be a part. Although the two content sources will be independent, they will support one another in the unified, renewed structure.
The concept for the admission website redesign was created by the cooperation of the Marketing and Communication Department offices; the implementation was made possible by the cooperation of the staff of multiple offices. The staff of the Digital Marketing Office provided the IT and coding background, and the PR content was written by the staff of the PR and Communication Office. The content of the admission websites is the responsibility of the Strategic Marketing and Communication Department, in close collaboration with the English and German Admission and Student Service Offices for the English and German version of the website.
