Since last November, the University of Pécs has had an order of entering the premises of the university during the state of emergency, in connection with which several measures have been taken at the Medical School to comply with the epidemiological rules and these are checked by police officers who visit the School on a daily basis.
The UPMS Dean's Office reminds everyone that it is mandatory to wear a face mask in the theoretical building of the Medical School. To make sure people comply with this, an English-speaking security guard has been on duty since 12 December, from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., who performs mask checking.
Under the current rules, violations of the rules are subject to personal accountability. The person acting on behalf of the building operator - the security guard - can warn people to comply with the regulations. He can verbally warn about the violation and then if someone still does not behave according to the rules, the security guard will ask them to leave the building.
If someone ignores the warning and does not leave the building either, the relevant disciplinary or infringement procedures will apply to him / her in accordance with the university's current regulations. According to the Dean's Office, a disciplinary procedure may also be initiated against an incompliant university citizen in the light of the above.
However, in addition to security guards, we can also meet police officers at the Medical School. According to the Baranya County Police Headquarters, they check the building several times a day, walk around it and verbally warn those who violate the epidemiological rules.
The Dean's Office emphasised that there is constant contact with the student organisations (Hungarian Student Council, English-German Student Council), and that there have been several social media information campaigns informing the students about the rules that apply to the university.
In accordance with the new regulations, the house rules of the UPMS have also been modified and published in the building and on the School's website in Hungarian, German, and English as well. An important change is that the elevators and toilets can only be used by two people at a time, and this is also what the posters call attention to in the building.
