According to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's announcement on 13 March, ten task forces have been set up to deal with the epidemiological situation as effectively as possible. One of the ten task forces is the coronavirus research group, led by Professor Ferenc Jakab, leader of the University of Pécs Szentágothai Research Centre Virological Research Group. The group's task is to develop a vaccine that is effective against the virus.
Dr. Ferenc Jakab was born in Marcali in 1977. He graduated from high school in Kaposvár, then graduated in 2002 at the University of Pécs Faculty of Sciences with a degree in biology and chemistry. He spent a long time in virus research laboratories in the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States.
