Dean’s Message - the Prime Minister’s announcement

10 November 2020

Dear Students!

According to the letter of the Chief of Staff of the Rector’s Cabinet, I would like to inform you about the questions related to the current situation:

The number of cases and fatalities has been growing in our country similarly to other countries, prompting the Government to implement further regulations. The legal background of these regulations is currently under discussion at the level of policymakers.

The further details of the president’s declaration (online higher education, dormitory closure) are not yet known.

The law proposal about the protection against the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic was voted on in the last few hours in the Parliament, allowing for governance by decree. The announcement of the regulations is only expected later. This observed by the Operative Staff of the university.

The Operative Staff surveyed today if the Faculties require a break sanctioned by the Rector for the remainder of the week, but the responses implied such intervention was unnecessary.

The University wishes to provide dormitory accommodation for students volunteering (or planning to do so) in healthcare support, or in outstanding cases with Rector’s permission. The details will be worked out in accordance with the edicts.

We will send out further information about the switch to online education tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience and your cooperation.

Best Regards,

Dr. Miklós Nyitrai

Dean
