COVID vaccines available for foreign citizens

4 May 2021

Dear Students,

With the advancement of the national vaccination campaign aiming to stop the pandemic, foreign citizens and Hungarian citizens living abroad without a TAJ number are able to register for the COVID-19 vaccines starting May 4, 2021. The relevant government decree was published on the evening of May 3, 2021 in Hungarian Official Gazette. The Government Information Centre stated that the vaccinations will start with foreign citizens living in Hungary, most probably in the second half of May.

According to the new decree:

  • Foreign citizens living in Hungary without a TAJ number have to provide the following during registration: name, age, e-mail address, phone number and mailing address; persons with a residence permit have to provide the number of the residence card or ID number, or a their passport number or other identification number.
  • Hungarian citizens living abroad without a TAJ number have to provide the following during registration: name, age, e-mail address, national ID number or number of Hungarian passport, serial number of national ID and the mailing address for the immunity certificate.

In order to allow for identity verification, the registration platform was modified. A surface specifically for registration of foreign citizens was created, available through the following link: https://vakcinainfo.gov.hu/registration

We would like to ask all students interested in getting the vaccine to register on the government website! We would like to notify our students that due to the favourable government decision about foreign citizens and the newly opened registration for the vaccines, the previously shared UP MS preliminary registrations are now invalid.

Further information about the immunity certificates will be shared soon.

Best regards,

Miklós Nyitrai
