Thematik

This semester will cover a summary of paediatric dentistry including emergency care, hospital care, complex therapies and general medical conditions that may affect paediatric dental care.

Final exam: two theorethical questions in the field of paediatric and preventive dentistry respectively and one case presentation demonstrated by the student. The average mark of the three exam parts results in a single final exam grade .

The students capabilities will be measured by the end of this semester. The teachers evaluate continously at the practices, the student (next to the exam question) get a case report, which has to be analysed.

2. Developmental abnormalities of teeth (structural, eruption abnormalities) Dietary principles in caries prevention.

3. Imaging and clinical diagnostics in paediatric dentistry. Caries activity tests.

4. Dental examination of children. Order of dental screening. Fissure sealing.

5. Caries lesion on deciduous teeth (diagnosis and treatment). Local fluoridation.

6. Endodontic treatment of deciduous teeth Systemic fluoridation.

7. Caries lesion on freshly erupted permanent teeth, vital pulp therapies-apexogenesis. Sugar substitutes.

8. Odontogenic infections in childhood Oral health education program for 2–5-year-olds.

9. Non-vital pulp therapy of immature permanent teeth. Mechanism of action and toxicity of fluorides.

10. Local anaesthesia in paediatric dentistry. Oral health education program for 6–12-year-olds.
