Topic
Fad diets are very popular among people who want to lose weight. They promise fast weight loss, but unfortunately this popularity has nothing to do with the health effect of these diets. Following them can lead to nutrient imbalances or malnutrition. Severe restriction of certain nutrients can cause serious health problems. Furthermore, sudden weight loss is typically followed by weight regain. Following the principles of a healthy diet can help in achieving a long-term sustainable lifestyle. The aim of this course is to acquaint students with fad diets from the perspective of evidence-based medicine.
