The University of Pécs International Studies Centre started the Hungarian Language and Culture Summer University 22 years ago. Following in the footsteps of the previous year, the 2021 event will also take place online, under the name of the second MagyarOK – Digital Summer University. Many have chosen to study online this year as well: 70 participants from 29 countries on 4 continents will learn about Hungarian language and culture.
Students can tune into two online education platforms for two-week sessions between July 19-30, 2021 and August 9-20, 2021.
“Online and three-dimensional language teaching might be related professions – since our goal is developing language skills –, but different methodology is needed to ensure successful education. We have worked hard with our educators on how to manage online courses allowing intense learning. This summer, we can already build in our past experiences” – said dr. Katalin Pelcz, the main organiser of the event. She added, that students can not only know what to learn in classes, but also how. There’s an emphasis on making sure that students know why things happen, and how they can work in the most efficient way.
We deal with facultative education methodology, and also develop other important skills, like pronunciation. Moreover, we are trying to bring Hungarian scents, shapes and flavours closer even through the online platforms. There will be an online café, a cooking and film club, and we will talk about traditions, music, history, and sights in Baranya.
