Topic
The use of measuring instruments is indispensable in both medical diagnostics and research. Based on the physical nature of the measured parameter (voltage, pressure, flow, temperature, optical), we discuss the operating principle of each device, covering the electronic background of processing on both the hardware and software sides. The correct interpretation of the results provided by everyday instruments, the recognition of their errors, and their elimination may become easier after mastering the approach given by the course.

Exam topics/questions
What is measurement? What measurement errors do you know? How do you characterize the accuracy of a measurement? What is a sensor/transducer? What are generator and modulator type sensors? What bioelectric signals do you know, what is their magnitude? What measurements based on optical principles do you know? What is luminescence? What principle do individual flow meters operate on? List pressure measuring devices used in biomedical practice and their operating principles! What temperature sensors do you know based on their structure? Describe the general flow chart of digital signal processing! What does electromagnetic compatibility mean?
