Topic

The course discusses complex concepts of human physiology based on questions and answers. The main goal is to expand the knowledge grounded by the physiology 2 course and to give a more practical point of view. The course emphasizes the medical relevances of our theoretical knowledge on human physiology. Students also have the opportunity to ask their physiology related questions during the program. The duration of the course is 6x2 hours. The following main topics are discussed: kidney functions, regulation of water and electrolyte balance (RAAS, ADH, ANP), metabolism, the hypothalamo-hypophyseal system, adrenal cortex, adrenal medulla and stress, thyroid physiology and hormonal control of calcium homeostasis, physiology of reproduction, pregnancy, lactation, hormonal regulation, spinal cord functions, spinal shock, decerebrate rigidity, physiology of motor and sensory system, physiology of visual, auditory, gustatory and olfactory system, limbic-system, cognitive functions, EEG, physiology of sleep.
