The general assembly of the Circle of Demonstrators was organized on 16th of April in person in the new campus of our faculty. All in all, more than 100 participants (mentor teachers, students and academic staff) took part in the event. The students who won the scholarship of the Circle of Demonstrators and the teachers with outstanding mentor work were granted awards. After the ceremony, the students and their mentors could converse during a small reception.
Since the foundation of the Circle of Demonstrators in 2015, 1020 students have joined the organization. In this academic year alone, 160 new students joined the organisation. In the past years, more than three hundred students have worked as demonstrators in various departments and clinical wards each semester. The outstanding students of the Hungarian, German and English programs won awards based on the number of their active demonstrator semesters, the credits gained in the framework of their demonstrator work, participating in workshops and other related activities.
Dr. László Czopf, vice-dean for education, Dr. András Fittler, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Dr. Andrea Tamás, president of the Circle of Demonstrators handed over the prizes to the awardees and to the teachers with outstanding mentor activity. The demonstrator workshops have always been successful and popular among students. The workshop for the development of demonstrator skills, initiated by the Language Department of our faculty, the Propaedeutics workshop for internal medicine examination in 3 languages, which were attended by medical students of the Hungarian-German-English programmes, and the brand new ‘Brain Matters’ – Neuroanatomy and Neurology workshop, organized by the demonstrators of the UPMS were especially popular in this academic year.
Dr. László Czopf, vice-dean for education and course director of the subject “Demonstrator activity” and Dr. Andrea Tamás, president of the Circle of Demonstrators gave their welcome speech at the beginning of the ceremony. Dr. László Czopf also introduced the new electronic administration platform of the DDK, which will go online from the fall semester. Ádám Al-Nhmi, a 3rd-year medical student, who will help the organization's work as student member of the board, was elected to the board of the Circle of Demonstrators. Afterwards, Tanusha Baijnath and Patrick Monteiro, 6th-year demonstrators held a presentation about the ‘Brain Matters’ – Neuroanatomy and Neurology Workshop. The Workshop for Internal Medicine was organized again in German, English and Hungarian in November 2023. Míra Zsófia Peresztegi, board member of DDK, discussed the experiences gathered during the organization and the event itself and also talked about the experiences of the Thai Medical Education Conference Bangkok, where 3 posters were presented from the Faculty of the UPMS.
