Tematika
The course builds on the nuclear physics studies discussed in Biophysics 1. and 2. In addition to deepen the basic concepts of radioactivity, the course aims to characterize the types of radiation in detail, to demonstrate the main damage to individual organs and organ systems, the course of acute radiation sickness, as well as embryonic effects through an in-depth discussion of the radiation-matter interactions, to explain the principle of operation of instruments suitable for measuring radioactive radiation and exploring the causes and consequences of major nuclear accidents, in addition to reveal the principles of radiation protection. The course provides an overview and characterization of the most important environmental factors causing our radiation exposure, as well as the national and international anomalies of environmental factors, in addition, details of the causes of any extra indoor load caused by radon. Discussion of the applicability of ionizing radiation in industrial, safety and space research are also the goal of the course.
