Tematika

Biotechnology is not just a single field; it is a multi-colored spectrum of solutions. While much of modern science focuses on medicine (Red Biotech), this course explores the full rainbow of innovation. We look at how the same high-tech tools—like CRISPR, AI, and Synthetic Biology—are uniquely applied to solve problems in our oceans, our food, and our environment. This course will broaden your horizon, showing you how to be a versatile scientist ready for a career in everything from sustainable energy to climate-resilient agriculture.

Előadások

Vizsgakérdések

I. Logic: The "Why" of the Spectrum

Why is it logical to use the same CRISPR technology differently in a plant (Green) than in a human (Red)?

What is the logical reason for dividing biotechnology into "Colors," and how does this help the industry?

Why is "White" (Industrial) biotechnology considered a key part of the "Green Deal" for a sustainable future?

How does the logic of "Bioprospecting" help us find new medicines in the ocean (Blue Biotech)?

Why is "Yellow" (Food) biotech becoming a major area of investment for venture capitalists?

II. Application: Real-World Solutions

How can "Green" biotech help a country like Hungary adapt its crops to longer, hotter summers?

Describe a scenario where a "White" microbial factory could replace a traditional chemical plant.

How is "Blue" biotech using algae to capture carbon and fight climate change?

What is the role of "Grey" biotech in cleaning up heavy metal contamination in industrial soil?

How can "Yellow" biotechnology create "Cultivated Meat" without the need for traditional farming?

III. Mechanism: How the Tech Works

Explain the mechanism by which a microbe can be "programmed" to produce biodegradable plastic.

How does an "Extremophile" enzyme survive in the boiling heat of a volcanic vent or the freezing arctic?

What is the basic mechanism of "Soil Microbiome" engineering to help plants grow in the desert?

How does "Synthetic Genomics" allow us to build a chromosome from scratch in the lab?

Describe how a "Biosensor" can be used in the environment to detect a specific pollutant in real-time.

IV. Diversity: Beyond the Clinic

What makes "Marine Biotech" (Blue) so different from "Land Biotech" in terms of the chemicals we find?

Why is "Brown" biotech specifically focused on the challenges of arid and desert lands?

How does "Gold" biotech (AI) speed up the discovery of enzymes for industrial use?

What is the difference between "GMO" and "CRISPR-edited" crops in the eyes of the public?

Why is "Biosecurity" (Black Biotech) becoming a top priority for governments worldwide?

V. Ethics & Policy: The Global Rules

Why are the "CRISPR Patent Wars" (Purple) important for the future of small biotech startups?

Should we be allowed to "write" the genome of a new species that has never existed?

What are the ethical concerns regarding "Dual-Use" research (Black Biotech)?

Who should own the rights to a discovery made from an enzyme found in international waters?

How can we ensure that "Green" biotech benefits small farmers and not just giant corporations?
