The complex treatment of patients with testicular cancer was organised here, in Pécs in the ’80s for the first time in Hungary. These days our clinic still has a leading role in the field. Many patients with metastatic disease requiring surgery are sent to our institute for treatment from many other regions of Hungary. In the majority of the cases, we are performing these kind of operations with minimal invasive technique.

The armamentarium for all type of upper urinary tract endoscopy is available here, in Pécs for the treatment of patients suffering from renal stone disease: modern lithotripters using laser, ultrasound and pneumatic energy, semirigid and flexible ureterorenoscope, and normal/”mini”-sized nephroscopes are used for the procedures. We perform a high volume of endourological procedures (URS, PCNL, RIRS) with experience of decades in the field. In special situations, with appropriate indication the organ-sparing laser ablation of upper urinary tract urothelial cancer is possible as well.

We have an andrological ambulance with a modern laboratory, a collection and an examining room for the appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic apporach of male infertility. With a modern operating microscope, our surgical profile consists of surgical sperm retrieval (micro-TESE, MESA), varicocele ligation and - with strict criteria and appropriate indication – testicular tumor microresection.

In 2019 a new rehabilitation unit was established, which is operating with a well-trained physiotherapist, where the first line therapy of pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence is taking place. In complicated cases or if surgical therapy is required urodynamic studies are performed by our colleagues for the most comprehensive diagnostics. We are providing surgical treatment for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence (transvaginal and laparoscopic reconstruction of prolapse, implantation of tension-free vaginal tapes and artificial urinary sphincter, botulinum toxin injection of detrusor muscle, applications of neuromodulation techniques).

In our clinic we are performing urethroplasty with long-term experience for the treatment of complicated urethral strictures, even with the use of buccal mucosal flap provided through our regular cooperation with otolaryngologists.
