Tematika

Due to our way of life, pharmaceutical residues (active substances and their metabolites) appearing in the environment are an increasing problem. The course aims to give students an insight into how these compounds are released into waters and soils, how their presence can be traced, and what procedures are currently being developed to remove these environmental contaminants. During the practices related to the lecture, the students will get acquainted with the carbon nanostructures (e.g. carbon nanotubes, graphene nanoplates), which are the basis for promising developments in water purification. The experiments investigate how they can be used to remove various pharmaceutical residues from water. The practices are interactive, the students work in groups based on experimental descriptions while learning the techniques for performing the experiments and interpreting and presenting the results.
