Tematika

The aim of the course is to give an overview of trace elements that play important roles in the human organism, their biochemical background, dietary sources, and the medical importance of their deficiencies and intoxications. During the course the students will be given an overview of the different trace elements regarding their physiological functions, most important dietary sources, the different national and international dietary recommendations, as well as medical conditions caused by deficiency or relative deficiency and excessive intake on the basis of current literature taking the criteria of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) also into account.
