Thematik

Metastasis is the primary cause of cancer related mortality, however, molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. The invading tumor cells interact with macromolecules and other cells locally in the tumor microenvironment as well as while disseminating. Plasticity and survival of metastatic cancer cells is mediated by these interactions. Revealing the molecular mechanisms of the complex metastatic process is crucial for development of novel efficient therapeutic approaches. Students attending the class will learn about recent findings in the field of metastasis research. Novel in vitro models and their challenges are discussed in details.
