Thematik
Biotechnology is connected to immunology in several ways. The aim of this course is to introduce the biotechnology MSc students to this complex relationship. Understanding of the immunological steady state will serve as a starting point to interpret the pathological alterations of the immune system, for example hypersensitive reactions or immunodeficiencies. The importance of physiological- and pathological autoimmunity will be discussed. Immunological background of several biotechnology fields will be highlighted. Interaction between microbes and the immune system. Possibilities in immunomodulation and immunological therapies.
