The UP International Centre is organizing seven summer schools in the frame of the Pécs Summer School program. The courses are open to UP students and students from partner universities abroad. Academic programs are provided by the faculties, while other events are organized by the Study Abroad and Summer University Office of the International Centre.
The Intercultural Sensitivity Erasmus+ BIP program took place in April with the participation of UP students alongside students from the Slovak and Italian partner universities. The European Studies Summer University will begin in July, bringing together fifty young people from three continents, in addition to students from the German and Indian partner universities. A group of forty French students from ESAIA University will also come for the second time for four weeks of English language and intercultural training offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Also in July, a new Erasmus BIP program in the field of social ecology will be organized for students from the EDUC University Association and UP, in cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. They will also host a team of twenty-two students from the Mexican Anahuac Queretaro University who will come to the University of Pécs for a study tour. For the sixth year in a row, a group of students from the University of Josa, Japan, will be hosted by the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts to learn about Hungarian folk dance and folk music. The week-long Debate Tournament, organized for students of the Compostela Group of Universities, will conclude the summer university programs.
This year, two hundred and thirty students from all over the world will participate in the Pécs Summer School programs. In addition to the classes, they will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of cultural activities, get to know Pécs and the region and gain lifelong intercultural experiences. There will be museum visits, a Quiz and Intercultural Evening, Hungarian food tasting, wine tasting, a sports competition, and a beach party as well.
The Pécs Summer School program was launched in 2016 by the Directorate of Foreign Affairs with the main aim of creating the so-called "Summer Trimester". After the successful program, more and more students returned to UP for semester-long courses or full-degree programs. Thanks to its growing summer university programs, UP has become a market leader in this field among Hungarian higher education institutions.
