Community and eecharge – Celebrating Faculty Well-Being

30 March 2026

With yoga, dance, meditation, therapy dogs, health screenings, healthy local delicacies and many other activities, the community of the University of Pécs Medical School celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Faculty’s Well-Being Program from 23 to 27 March.

The week highlighted an important message: maintaining the physical and mental well-being of students, faculty members and staff is essential in everyday life.

Each day of the jubilee week had a dedicated theme: Monday focused on healthy nutrition, Tuesday on sports and recreation, Wednesday on mental health, Thursday on physical health, and Friday on sustainability. The old and new aula buildings of the Medical School, as well as the northern and southern parks, were filled with activity. Workshops, counselling sessions and screening programmes welcomed participants, while organisers also offered smoothie tastings, creative portrait photography, yoga, tai chi, dance-based exercise sessions, frisbee, badminton and table tennis as part of the nearly thirty programmes held throughout the week.

One of the highlights of the week was the lecture by Dr Katalin Piczkó, entitled “Garden of Love – Social Games at Work and at Home”, in which workplace situations came to life in the Dr György Romhányi Aula. The therapy dogs of the ÉletHíd Assistance Dog Foundation were also a great attraction: the specially trained dogs and their handlers brightened the day of many students and colleagues in the northern park.

On the closing day, a farmers’ market was set up in the aula of the old building, while staff members were treated to ice cream and muffins in the new building.

The jubilee week also featured a game in the Faculty’s mobile application, POTE+. Each day, one question related to the daily theme appeared in the app and could be answered after scanning a QR code. Points awarded for correct answers can be exchanged for valuable prizes, which winners may collect in the coming days.
