More than one hundred participants – mentors, student demonstrators, and faculty members – attended the spring general assembly of the Demonstrator Student Association (DDK) at the Medical School in Pécs, held on April 28 in the new educational building. Students awarded the DDK scholarship, as well as instructors recognized for their outstanding mentoring work, received honors.
Since its establishment in 2015, more than 1,300 students have joined the Demonstrator Student Association, with nearly 170 joining in the current academic year alone. In recent years, more than 350 students per semester have been engaged in demonstrator work across various institutes and clinics. Outstanding students from the Hungarian, German, and English programs were awarded based on the number of active demonstrator semesters completed, the credits earned within demonstrator-related courses, and their activities beyond required duties.
The awards were presented by Dr. László Czopf, Vice Dean for Education, and Dr. Andrea Tamás, President of the Demonstrator Student Association, to both the honored students and the instructors recognized for their exceptional mentoring work. Among the key evaluation criteria were the highly successful demonstrator workshops and other extracurricular contributions.
During the current academic year, numerous workshops supported by the DDK were organized by demonstrators and mentors. The program included, among others, the DDK Internal Medicine Workshop, the workshop of the Institute of Anatomy, the 7th workshop for demonstrators of the Institute of Languages and Communication, Brain Matters 3 and 4 – Neuroanatomy and Neurology Workshop, the Pathophysiador courses (Institute of Translational Medicine) in autumn 2025 and spring 2026, the ECG and Clinical Case Studies Workshop in autumn 2025 and spring 2026, the Fit für Famulatur Workshop in spring 2026, the Family Medicine Workshop in autumn 2025 and spring 2026, OSCE Drill Workshops, and the workshop of the Institute of Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry. These events attracted wide interest and were attended by many Hungarian-, English-, and German-speaking medical students.
At the general assembly, attendees were welcomed by Dr. László Czopf, Vice Dean for Education and course coordinator for demonstrator activities, and Dr. Andrea Tamás, President of the DDK. Experiences from this year’s OSCE series were presented from both instructor and student perspectives by Dr. Judit Sebők and demonstrator Jonas Standke.
Following the award ceremony and the general assembly, participants also had the opportunity for informal discussion and exchange of experiences related to demonstrator work.
