9 June 2021

On 8 June, Quacquarelli Symonds in London published its latest university ranking. The University of Pécs has been ranked in the 651-700th category on the list comparing the best higher education institutions in the world, thus maintaining its position of last year and the year before. Moreover, Hungary's first university is ranked among the top 200 universities in the world in the category of international students.

Professionals at Quacquarelli Symonds have been compiling the world’s university ranking annually since 2004 based on six criteria. The final ranking is based on the judgment of the academic sphere, the opinion of the employers, the frequency of citations of the scientific works related to the institution, the teacher-student ratio, and the number of foreign teachers and students. Data from nearly 1,700 universities were compared, based on tens of millions of documents and 96 million citations. Out of 1673 institutions, the best one thousand three hundred were finally ranked.

Dr. Attila Miseta, rector of UP said in connection with the latest international ranking: “We have managed to stabilize our position in this international comparison in the strong middle-rank in recent years. The number of our references has increased at a good pace and based on the proportion of foreign students, we were ranked among the TOP 200 universities in the world this year, just like last year, which we can be proud of. We would like to strengthen this popularity with the constantly evolving university infrastructure and the ever-higher quality of education.”

The one of the most accepted international rankings calls UP historic based on its foundation, classifies its research intensity in the “high” category, while evaluating its training spectrum as comprehensive as possible.
