Tímea Orbánné Radó, a staff member of the University of Pécs Clinical Center, learned as a parent that children have been orphaned in the Primary School at Köztársaság Square due to the pandemic.
Together with the school principal, dr. Katalin Molnárné Szoldatics, and the president of the Akut Pécs Foundation, András Deák, they organized supporters to help them, and their gifts were handed over in the frame of a small ceremony on 15 December in the Primary School at Köztársaság Square in Pécs.
The treatment of the family tragedies caused by the pandemic is unfortunately constantly topical, which gave the idea of initiating donations during the Advent season. Today in Hungary, it would be essential to help nearly a thousand Covid orphans left without a mother and/or father. This requires the cooperation of several institutions to reach as many people in need as possible.
Because of the coronavirus, six children have been orphaned in a family, and three children have become half-orphaned in another family in Pécs. In addition to emotional pain and grief, providing financial resources is also a serious test for them.
After hearing about the stories of the two families in Pécs, two companies immediately offered their support: the Lohmann and Rauschen Kft. and IKH Globál Kft. From the amount transferred by the former company, trips, sports equipment, and important equipment for the children can be purchased, and the latter company helps them with a donation of food of great value. The companies want to continue to help those in need, as does the Akut Pécs Foundation, the latter with the organization of a summer first aid camp where the orphans will be able to participate together with the children of PTE SBO employees.
They plan to help more Covid orphans, but it will require additional support and data. You can contact András Deák, the Akut Pécs Foundation president, at deak.andras@pte.hu if you would like to donate.
