After two years of forced hiatus, the Advent Concert opened the holiday waiting period again in 2022 at the Pécs Medical School. On the last day of November, students, educators and colleagues played music together, and the Bajnóczky-award was also handed out.
The 12th Advent Concert organised at the University of Pécs Medical School did not only help tune in to the holiday mood, but also allowed Hungarian and international students, educators and colleagues who are musically inclined to show off their talents. This year, aside from the musical acts, a prose act was also added, and there were “guest performers” from other faculties as well.
According to tradition, the evening was opened by dr. Dóra Reglődi vice-dean. She shared three valuable thoughts with the audience. She expressed her gratitude and joy over having this concert as an opening to the holiday period after the two year hiatus at the Medical School. She was proud of the performers who are not only performing highly in their profession, but also are talented musicians. In her closing words, she emphasized the importance of statements and making new plans.
Aside from the performances, the concert also hosted the ceremony for the Bajnóczky-award, paying homage to the late director professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine. The curatorship of the award decided for the 8th time in 2022 about which educator and student get their artistic efforts recognised by the award. Aside from dr. Zoltán Vámos, adjunct of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy, Balázs Gilincsek student was also given this honourable award.
“Music is the language we all understand” – this Debussy quote was the introduction of the last performance of the evening. This thought could also work as the motto of the Advent Concert, since this was truly an excellent opportunity for building community.
We would like to thank dr. Balázs Fülöp, assistant professor of the Anatomy Department, Balázs Gilincsek 6th year medical student and the Hungarian Admission and Student Service Office for organising the event.
We would also like to congratulate the recipients of the Bajnóczsky-award!
