The English-German Student Council organizes the International Evening on 9 March; they expect more than 3500 guests.
On the stage of the Zsolnay hall, the audience can admire the beautiful national costumes, we can be a part of the introduction of the first multicultural recipe book of the University of Pécs, we can listen to 10 nation’s musical performances, we can taste the delicacies of 20 nations prepared by the students, and on the PMS stage their own musicians are going to give a real concert experience again. This year the event is going to host the Alumni meeting of the students who graduated from the Medical School’s English and German programs.
This year’s motto: “Go Green. Think globally. Act locally.” The students believe that they have to do everything they can locally to protect the environment. They have banished the plastic straws from the event and instead of the disposable plastic cups the guests can drink from cups that are plant-based, biodegradable, and non-disposable festival cups.
The aim of the event is twofold. Firstly, the students show how varied and colourful they are, what things are characteristic of their cultures, whether it is their clothes, their food, their music, or their dance styles. Their keywords are multiculturalism, peaceful coexistence, getting to know and accepting each other’s cultures. Furthermore, their aim is charity. Based on the decision of the English-German Student Council, this year the clinics, the institutes, and the organizations that help disadvantaged children and their families can expect the support again.
