In his greeting, the Minister of Human Capacities said that Ignác Semmelweis carried on the most beautiful traditions of thousands of years of medicine, considered life to be the most important thing and risked his health, his life in order to save lives. The Minister recalled that Ignác Semmelweis was the one who accurately recognized the nature of childbed fever, the cause of the disease, described the route of infection, observed the symptoms, the complaints.
