On March 13 and 14, 2021, the DDK workshop for internal medicine took place for the fifth time in the Medical Simulation Education Center, MediSkillsLab. The aim of the two-day event was to give as many students as possible the opportunity to learn and practice the physical examination on each other, which had to be canceled due to the online lessons in the winter semester.
The initiative was announced in all three programs, which included 62 third-year students, 39 Hungarian and 24 foreign students.
On Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., learning and teaching took place in 3-hour shifts, in 3 rooms, in 3 languages, in small groups.
Despite the increased workload and secondment due to the worsening pandemic, the weekend workshop was taught in Hungarian, English and German by 7 clinical lecturers and 14 demonstrators in the fourth, fifth and sixth years.
When organizing and carrying out the event, the organizers paid particular attention to compliance with the epidemiological restrictions.
The feedback from the students from all three programs was extremely positive: the students found that the learning opportunity offered by the workshop was, under the current circumstances, gap-filling and maximally effective. Many highlighted the advantages of learning in small groups and teaching peers, the willingness and helpfulness of the demonstrators and lecturers.
The student feedback has shown that there is a great need for similar workshops in the future.
