The London Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published its most recent university field ranking. According to the list ranking the best higher education institute courses, the University of Pécs Medical School has retained its former position.
The experts at Quacquarelli Symonds evaluated 1543 higher education institutes in five broader fields of science and 51 specialties, based on almost 15 million documents and 96 million citations. The speciality ranking was based on five indicators: assessment of the academic sphere, opinion of employers, citation index of scientific publications, the H-index used to measure scientific performance. The international research cooperation of each institute was also taken into account.
The University of Pécs has achieved somewhere between positions 351-400 since 2019 consistently in medical sciences. Some other local medical schools have the same ranking in medical fields: the University of Debrecen and University of Szeged rank around the same, and the Semmelweis University ranked 201-250.
Based on the specialty of medical sciences, the University of Pécs has reached the highest points (78.9 our of the maximum of 100) in the citation index of scientific publications, which is an increase from the 74.5 points in 2021. The opinion of employers has also shown improvement: compared to the 50 points from last year, this year the University of Pécs has received 56.1 points for the aspect of medical sciences.
At the head of Quacquarelli Symonds’ cumulative list for medical sciences is Harvard, followed by University of Oxford, University of Stanford, University of Cambridge and the Johns Hopkins University.
