Quacquarelli Symonds published their university ranking list on September 20. The list containing the best higher education institutes in Europe was compiled for the first time by the London-based company highly regarded in university ranking lists. The University of Pécs was on the 325th place in the international ranking, which is a very good position.
The experts at Quacquarelly Symonds compared almost 700 universities in 42 European countries based on factors like research ecosystem, career options after graduation and sustainability. The University of Pécs has received the best score for international students, where it came in the 100th place as second best in Hungary. The good result is mostly due to the fact that Pécs receives international students from over 130 countries. Another high result was the one for the ratio of students and educators: Pécs received the 152nd place.
Dr. Attila Miseta, rector of the University of Pécs has said the following about the latest international ranking:
“There are many international rankings lately, often using highly different ranking factors. Getting around these is sometimes difficult even for higher education experts, but the rankings of Quacquarelly Symonds are worth to note, they are clearly honoured by the international higher education elite. Our results show that the internationalisation strategy we has in the past few years has already born its fruit, but we have to notice that the number of quotations of our researchers – save a few select ones – cannot compete with the best universities yet. We would like to improve on this in the future.”
