The Centre for Advanced Medical Technology (CAMTECH) of the Medical School in Pécs also participated in the ‘National Research Infrastructure Questionnaire 2023-2024’ survey initiated by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDIO) by submitting its research infrastructure and, based on the assessment of the National Research Infrastructure Committee, was awarded the certificate of “excellent research infrastructure”, which was presented on 6 February at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The certificate was received by Dr. Miklós Nyitrai, Dean of the UPMS, and Dr. Péter Maróti and Dr. Szilárd Rendeki, Directors of the CAMTECH.
At the ceremony, it was said that the recognised projects include developments that open a new chapter in the operation of domestic research infrastructures. They will be implemented with the support of the Hungarian state and co-financed by the European Union between 11 September 2024 and 30 June 2029 at a total cost of HUF 5 billion.
“The certificate is an outstanding professional recognition, which proves that the University of Pécs Medical School Centre for Advanced Medical Technology achieved good results in terms of academic and market relations, scientific achievements, and training of young researchers. This is not only positive feedback on the quality of our current work, but it also increases the credibility and visibility of the institution in the national and international research community. It is also our pleasure because we started our activities less than ten years ago, so our units are relatively young. The recognition is expected to strengthen the institution’s position in future tenders and grants,” said Dr. Péter Maróti, head of unit.
As he said, the certificate is the result of many years of consistent, coordinated work and development. The three main units of CAMTECH - the Medical Skills Education and Innovation Centre, the 3D Printing and Visualisation Centre, and the Biomechanics Laboratory - have been working for years on the development and application of medical technology innovations. Their success is due to their active participation in international and national tenders and to inter- and multidisciplinary teamwork: doctors, healthcare professionals, engineers and IT specialists working closely together.
