Subject course vs. Exam course

  • courses can be divided into subject courses (obligatory to attend classes) or exam courses (no classes, only exam)
  • the subjects determined in the curriculum can be completed upon registering the given subject course(s)
    • subject means the study material itself, course means the class (time, place, lecturer) to help the acquisition of the material
  • if a student did not complete the subject in a given semester, they can register the subject again in a following semester when the subjects is announced as a SUBJECT COURSE
    • in this case the student has to complete the courses of the subject again, no exemption can be given from attending the classes and accomplishing the mid-semester tasks even if they gained the end-of-semester signature in the previous semester
  • if the student gained the end-of-semester signature, but did not complete the exam, they can register the subject as an exam course in a following semester when it is announced as an EXAM COURSE
    • in this case the student has no right to attend the classes, but can use the exam chances on the offered exam dates
    • the semester in which the exam course is offered can be different than the recommended semester of the subject
    • not every subject is offered as an exam course – it is the course director’s decision and this is information is only available on the RO website under Announcements before the start of the academic year
    • the headcount limits of exam courses are available only in Neptun in the course registration period
    • an exam course can be registered only on the same language in which the student registered the subject earlier and in which the student completed the midsemester requirements
